John Paul Rathbone

Executive opinion editor

John Paul Rathbone is the Executive Comment Editor of the Financial Times. He was previously Latin America Editor; Tokyo-based Business and Markets Editor at the Nikkei Asian Review, a sister publication that covers Asian business and politics; and Deputy Editor of the Lex column.

Author of the 2010 New York Times best-seller “The Sugar King of Havana: the rise and fall of Julio Lobo, Cuba’s last tycoon”, John Paul joined the FT in 2008.
