Camilla Cavendish’s view that “we must do whatever it takes, and spend whatever it costs, to save lives” is reasonable (“We are prioritising the old and will have to make it up to the young”, March 28). However, the older generation should pay the bill when the time comes. Withdrawing their unfair tax breaks and other benefits and transferring them to the young would be a good start. It’s the moral thing to do as well, as it adheres to free-market principles.
